    TIPS FOR KEEPING YOURSELF FIT

NUTRITION TIP: Got a sweet tooth and feel you're eating things that are bad for you? A simple way to reduce the amount is to keep a food diary. This comprises of you writing down everything you eat and drink on a daily basis. The key is honesty! This will help reduce the amount because when written in black and white, human nature means we make a conscious effort to make sure we eat less of such things next time.

Then when we achieve this it gives us a psychological boost that encourages us to continue the improvement.. Never underestimate the most powerful muscle in the body - the brain!

FITNESS MYTH: Many women refuse to use weights in their exercise programme because - they think this will make them big and bulky with muscle. THIS IS NOT TRUE.

It is important for women to include body conditioning as part of a balanced exercise programme, preferably free weights.

Reasons why?

  1. Using weights helps to promote high bone density and reduce risk of osteoporosis (a common disease amongst women)
  2. Using weights burns calories, therefore reduces fat and tones muscle hence why women feel they are getting "bigger muscles". They are not - they are reducing fat around muscle therefore muscle becomes more noticeable not bigger! This is vital if a woman has the aim, common to many, of "dropping a dress size"
  3. Using free weights is better because apart from the main muscle being worked, the muscles that help stabilise and support the working muscle, also work, this includes your core! This means more calories being burned and you are working your body harder.

SO LADIES..DON'T BE FRIGHTENED TO USE THOSE DUMBELLS!

WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR GOLF? Many golfers who want to reduce their handicap will buy the latest club on the market - problem - It's the golfer who plays the game not the club!

Due to our growing sedentary lifestyle and occupations, the majority of people have postural problems and muscle imbalance - A good posture and muscle balance are the foundations on which a successful golfer is built on. This is why if you want to improve your golf and consistency as a golfer, it is vital to address flexibility and muscle balance before improving strength and power.
